Carlos Miyares born in Santiago de Cuba in 1980, is a renowned saxophonist whose expressive sound and technical brilliance have earned him a place among the most respected figures in contemporary jazz. He began his musical journey at age seven, initially studying piano before switching to saxophone under Maestro Raul Cordies.
Influenced by jazz legends like Wayne Shorter, John Coltrane, Johnny Griffin, and Dexter Gordon, Miyares developed a style that blends emotional depth with Cuban musical heritage. His performances are celebrated for their intensity, nuance, and improvisational mastery.
Over the years, Carlos has collaborated with numerous artists and performed at international jazz festivals. Notably, he spent five years working with the legendary pianist Chucho Valdés, contributing to the Grammy-winning album *Chucho’s Steps* (Best Latin Jazz Album, 2010).
